Start from Photos
Open Perfect Frame and tap Choose Video. The system Photos picker appears so you can select exactly one clip from your library. Perfect Frame does not ask you to upload source video to a server; the file you pick stays on your iPhone for processing.
Short screen recordings, slo-mo clips, and standard camera video all work. If a clip is very long, scrubbing to the right region first saves time when you fine-tune frames later.
Step through frames
Once the video loads, drag the playhead or tap Earlier and Later to move one frame at a time. Frame stepping is the reliable way to stop on the instant you want—especially when motion blur makes a whole second of playback look similar.
Use stepping when a paused preview looks almost right but not quite: the sharpest frame is often immediately before or after what you see during continuous scrubbing.
Compare and pick the sharpest moment
The nearby frame strip shows thumbnails around your current position. Tap any thumbnail to preview it full-size before you commit. This side- by-side comparison is what makes iPhone frame extraction practical for fast action— you can see which neighbor has open eyes, less blur, or better composition.
Optional: tap Find Suggested Frame for on-device help highlighting one candidate. You can still choose any frame manually before exporting.
Export JPEG or HEIC on-device
When you are satisfied, tap Save Photo. Perfect Frame exports a still decoded from the video at that timestamp. JPEG is the default share-friendly format; HEIC export is available with Premium for high-quality saves with smaller files when you need them.
Saving to Photos requests add-only permission at export time. Choosing the source video uses the standard picker and does not require broad library access up front.
Privacy: processing stays on your phone
Frame decoding and comparison run locally. Your source videos are not transmitted for cloud processing or storage. Read the Privacy Policy for full details on data handling and analytics.
